A metaphor to describe this whole process of learning EIR would be falling sick.
This is because the workload of this whole module is given everyday and consistency cum diligence is needed to excel for this module. Therefore, if you are not careful or inconsistent in the work given, you will fall.
But after we are sick, we recover.
This module has its own benefits as we get to learn how to do research more effectively. The bonus of blogging, which I believed, has bring determination and perseverance in our work because it is a fun thing to do.
Everything has a good and bad side just like falling sick. :)

Reflection: Dream holiday
Activity 3 reflection : Choosing our dream holiday!
Look at this house surrounded by trees! :D That is my dream holiday!
I have decided to go to this place because I love nature and houses that are built with woods.
That's why I chose somewhere far away from the city and this place is perfect for me!
It has beautiful amenties inside and most importantly, there's WIFI! It's an irony to have internet connection in a rural area eh?
With that said, how do I get all these information?
Well, it is from their own website http://www.thewoodstreehouses.com/index.html
It's accessibility and usability is good because we are not required to sign in or register to view their information and it is well organized with headings on top of the website to show us the navigation.
The information are clear and succinct even though there are spelling and grammar mistakes in their hotel descriptions (which I'm quite surprised).
Overall, it is a a good website but not an excellent one because it doesn't provide more information about their surroundings and tourist attractions so after we stay in the hotel, we can know where to head out for some activities built around the area. It also doesn't have a history page about itself to feed us more about them.

MY DREAM HOLIDAY
And so......
welcome to....
NEVERLAND RANCH!
This is exclusively, my dream holiday.
I have always, I repeat, ALWAYS, wanted to go to Neverland Ranch.
Unfortunately, it is closed down and nobody can enter it, but trust me, I will sneak in the minute I reach there.
And because it is not a place for any visitation, thus, there's no tourism/travelling website for this place.
Did I mention that I love nature a lot?
And the kind of nature that I desire to visit and stay, must have a lot of greens in it!

Activity 6 Reflections
a) I find that both the invisible web (databases) and search engines such as meta-search or subject directions are equally effective, depending on what kind of sources we re looking for.
The databases is more suitable for searching statistical reports and up-to-date newspaper articles. The results will be at least 80% relelvant to our research topic and the sources and articles are highly reliable because their sources are from newspaper that are publish around the world. Thus, it will be good for research work.
Search engines work fine as well, however, it shows too much search results which may hit million of results and most of them aren't even relevant. The sources may not be reliable because they may give you the information that you need but the sources may come from people's opinion (eg. forums, social network,) so it is important to check more than one sources to confirm our research results.
b) I will use EBSCOhost for my research topic. My research topic is 'Roles and relevance of traditional practices in modern society'. EBSCOhost is a great research tools because it consists of convenient features to help us search specificly for our sources and results. It has features that asked for the publishing date of (article/journal/abstract/bibliography/book/case study etc....) to choose which one we would like to search for. It covers almost on any topics and the sources mostly reliable.
c) I will use LEXISNEXIS for my course, Moving Images (Video). LEXISNEXIS is a database for us to search for newspaper articles locally and internationally! We usually need to read newspapers on movie reviews, the latest news of any productions (locally/internationally) , the arts development in Singapore as well as Life! from Straits Times. This is so that we are updated on the film industry and the direction we can venture in the future.

Reflections on activity 1&2
Blog shopping!!! :D
Or rather E-shopping activity. haha.
I do love online shopping because firstly, I don't have to get out of the house and waste any energy to travel (I'm lazy :ppp).
Secondly, there are many products which people can put on their website so that we can choose, I mean obviously, BUT, there are some websites which provides more products, choices, availibility and exposure compared to a retail outlet store, whereby there are some products which we are only available from overseas. :D
Thirdly, we were given '500 bucks' to feel rich for a moment in our life.
Geez, better than nothing. :p
Just kidding, my third reason is that blog shopping allows us to search for a lot of online shopping websites and through that we get to discover a lot more shopping websites which in turn causes us to be calculative and cheapo because by the time we had enough of online shopping, we know which product to buy. We may even get the suppliers to sell us a certain quatity of their products at a cheap price and we can sell it at a higher price (hopefully a product which is copyrighted and very new, so people won't copy the idea).
And we get to earn money and learn some business tactics as well.

HOWEVER, there are sure to have some cons to it because there are cases whereby people who bought products online and got cheated of their money or you don't get to see the quality of the products before paying.
How I hope the $500 is real. :)
2. Why do you think there is a need for researchers to know the different purposes of websites? Explain using examples of websites you often visit or those which you have encountered while researching on your research topic.
It is crucial for researchers to know the different purposes of websites because they need the correct information to begin with and they can't just find any information from any websites without knowing whether their sources are true or reliable. Thus, they are called researchers for a reason... right? Their information MUST be the truth and the correct information so A LOT of research, studies and efforts are needed for them to do.
3. Choose an advocacy website. Compare this advocacy website with the shopping website you had used for your E-shopping websites by using THREE differences.
An advocacy website will be http://www.dredf.org/.
This website is 'The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund' which is founded in 1979. It is an independent organization which is led by people with disabilities or with children who are disabled. They survived mainly on donations from donaters or from the public.
They are unhappy with the government's inadequate ability to take care of the disabilities or other bad cases/discrimination that they decided to form an organization to support, help and protect themselves.
My E-shopping website is http://thecamerawise.com
This website is a online blog shop which sells mainly DSLR or cameras accessories. It is solely a business that is being lead by business people. Mostly importantly this isn't an organization.
4. Explain the most meaningful lesson you had learnt from Practical 1&2.
The most meaningful lesson which I'd learn from Practical 1 &2 is that I learn to think deeper in terms of researching for information. I was so used to the mundane reaction and lifestyle that when an assignment/work is thrown to me, the first website I would visit is Google. It awaken a part of me that there are actually other websites which provide true information and I don't have to always depend on Google to survive. (btw, not all information from google is correct)
I hope I won't turn back to my old habits of researching but think a little but more before I research.

INSTAX MINI 7S (CHOCOLATE)
Direct from Japan

The price is ...

Price: $119!
Whee!! Instax mini 7! :D
It has chocolate color (I'm a die-hard fan of chocolate) and this is what I have always wanted!
There are other colors such as white, blue, pink and black but my favorite is BROWN!
I'm a sentimental person I guess, so I have always wanted to collect as many instax of me and my friends and then frame them up on my wall.
And I enjoyed handicrafts so it's a bonus for me to act on my interest by making and designing my own frames for my instax!
:D
I found this website, thecamerawise.com, which is also a blog shop through both Google and Ebay.
This website sells mostly camera accessories like DSLR straps, camera body casings, waterproof casings and Instax cameras.
Do check it out if you're into photography too! :)
